A BODY comes out of the shower, dripping wet.
They go to the outlet in the corner to plug in a light, but something has happened with the outlet splitter - it’s been jiggled, the mini-fridge does not hum.
The BODY bends over to plug it in.
A SPARK. Electrocution!
The body now lives in the light of the mini-fridge, and the fridge in the body.

MINIFRIDGE
I should have done what my father told me.
Dry your hands before touching appliances.
What is this I see before me? An old jalapeño, a container of pickle juice.
Compressor calm and thirst for freon, I long to keep this jalapeño taught.
I longer not to freeze the juice.
Longest is a singular charge: keep cold.

BODY
I am wet.

The BODY tries to crawl into the MINIFRIDGE.
They do not make it.

BODY
There are people smarter and kinder than I
Walking like ikons, on the street I would know them.
Green for these ikons, unsure how to worship, the swingy with the in-sense, is it?
Thought taking the form of my maker would make me know but
Now that I’m here I’m stupider than ever.

MINIFRIDGE
There’s a fridge in the kitchen and suddenly I need to kiss it.
I know the handle is broken and kept on by masking tape
I hope to take that handle in mine.

BODY
When the man scratches the head, it’s the feeling of being born.

MINIFRIDGE
Need to write a letter.
How will I write a letter now?

The BODY goes out on the deck.

BODY
The horizon.
The horizon goes on.

MINIFRIDGE
There must be many ways to court a fridge.
Doing it the hard way might lead to unexpected discoveries.

BODY
I do not like consciousness, and I never did want to eat.
Only hold old beans, only save them for someone else.
37° to 41° - a narrow way to be.
It has been a long road.
My father, the icebox
My ancestors, pits of snow and zeers
Make a body fridge again
Again, a body cold.

The BODY looks out, at the people in the park across the street.

BODY
Who could it be? A group dedicated to prayer and also training a dog?
Something with mittens, an old dance of doing things, not loud with their movement but not secretive either.
Will keep tabs.

MINIFRIDGE
Need to speak to the giant fridge in the kitchen. Was it once a person too?
With the hideous coagulated cheese sauce, is it thinking thoughts like I am?

BODY
Outdoors is God’s fridge, animals and vegetables.

MINIFRIDGE
If I can scoot to the kitchen I can meet The Big One
Let the wind flow suck the wilting garlic skins out of its big belly.

BODY
I know the miracle of hands and yet I miss the rarity of purpose.
Will I ever return to my duty?
